Do you lift your dinghy onto foredeck by spinnaker halyard, and do you leave the o/b attached to the dinghy?

I have a 2001 model. We raft up with other boats a lot. When a fender between boats hits my rubrail it comes off very easy. Catalina told me that a purchasing agent they had tried to save money buying rubrail from a different supplier and it didn't work very well. 2001 was one of those years. They can not get the replacement rubrail for those years and you can not use what they stock without replacing the extrusion first. I learned this while visiting the Florida plant two years ago. so if you every buy new rubrail from them make sure it will fit your boat and the model year.

My solution after trying to tighten the rubrail is to use a dab of 4200 about every foot of so where it is coming off. Seems to be working in the test areas I have done. I like to fix things right but I'm not prepared yet to change the extrusions and tired of forcing the rubrail back Ito the track and the summer sun makes the problem worst.

Tighten it up

In a race last year where we had the rails buried most of the time, my port side rubrail almost pulled completely out. To fix I just popped it back in and stretched it out about 3" toward the back and so far have not had a repeat. That is pretty easy to do dockside. When I get to the point that I have cut about 2' off, then I will start thinking about replacing the entire thing (perhaps even in a color like blue that matches everything.).

PaulJ, Sorry to hear that it is"starting to sag and pull out." I hope every time you have to explain that you have the context right for the audience. Could be embarrassing if mis-construed.
