Jack Line Rig 36 Catalina
I have not rigged jack lines on a 36 Catalina, however, from the ASA Sailing classes I have taken there seem to be two schools of thought. 1. Use flat webbing laid along the deck from a bow cleat to a stern cleat. 2. Rig a jack line, somehow, down the center of the boat. You could rig a bridle w/eye from each of the bow cleats, attach the centerline jack line and run it aft to another similarily rigged bridle attached to each stern cleat. In the case of someone overboard, dragged and drowned, option two would seem to have been the way to go. Perhaps one would be prevented from going overboard altogether.(With a sufficiently short tether)Another thing to consider, we bought inflatable vests w/harnesses from West Marine. The tethers I bought have a beaded quick release on the snap that goes on the D-rings of the harness. If overboard and being dragged there is a chance that the crewmember would be able to pull the quick release and save themselves. (Better get the MOB drill going if this were to happen.)Hope that this helps.Cal
