Hi all,
Sitting on the Fl. / Ga. border for the next few days (weather) and had to fix a sump pump to the galley. The port on the suction hose broke so I had to remove the threaded part still inside the pump housing and find a replacement part. The nylon port broke flush and is less than 1/2 inch ID. Not having an extractor that size aboard I tried several screw drivers and needle nose pliers with no luck to back it out. After talking with a fellow cruiser about options I put together a mental list of extractors.
I got the drill bit index and found a bit that just slid inside. With some downward pressure on the bit, I used a set of pliers to turn it out. It was sharp enough to back out the nylon port.
Next I had my wife help finding the forward sump for the head sink and shower. It took little time to get to it and remove a port to use on the galley sink (luckily the same size and working now). I went online to find another port and can't seem to find the replacement for this older pump. It's a Jabsco 36600 (Par) pump with ports 1/2 inch male pipe thread to 3/4 inch hose barb. I didn't see any for this model, most were smaller hose barb. I tried HD and Lowes online which wouldn't sort their inventory. Seems like I searched for this before and found something in Portland Pipe in Maine that had every plastic pipe fitting made. Would be nice to find one as we travel back up the coast.
