JABSCO LITE OVER-FILLING THE BOWL!

hello! i am the owner of a lite flush electric jabsco marine toilet: https://www.xylem.com/siteassets/brand/jabsco/resources/manual/58500-lite-flush-electric-head.pdf

recently it stopped working correctly.

in short, the toilet has the updated 2-option control panel, but this does not work well. when I press the first button "fill", the toilet fills with water. then I press "flush" which is actually "fill and flush" and the toilet fills with MORE water before flushing away. the problem is this is too much water to flush away all of the waste. when I then complete the cycle again, the water gets higher and higher until it's overflowing!

I changed the joker valve and that made no difference.

I am wondering if there's a way to change the electrics so that I do not have to "fill" between every flush. if I was just able to flush alone I think it would work!

please help me - i am in the uk and cannot find someone to help me with this problem.

all the best,

You only need to replace the 2 option flush panel with a 3 option panel that offers a choice of water in (and btw, water should always be added to the bowl ahead of solid waste), bowl contents out, and the same simultaneous water in-bowl contents out that single flush buttons provide.

Edit After posting this, I did a bit of research on this and suggest you contact a Jabsco dealer (try Lee Sanitation) to make sure that type of flush panel will work with the lite flush toilet and also to find out whether your problem may just be that the 2 option flush panel is bringing in too much water (it's only supposed to bring in .6 liter on either setting...1 liter total should not be enough to overflow the bowl) and needs resetting or replacement.

And btw...I see you've just joined our merry band here at sbo.com...welcome aboard!

thank you so much peggie <3

i have been searching high and low for a alternative control panel but they seem to be out of stock EVERYWHERE!! will try lee sanitation as u suggest…

yes, the toilet is either letting too much water in or not sucking enough out… the two-switch is annoying! if only i could just press flush…

thank you again!

It occurred to me after I posted that "not sucking (pushing actually) enough out" could be the problem, especially since you said that this is a new problem. It's possible that your holding tank vent may be partially blocked, creating some back pressure that creates very slow drainage. The most common locations for a vent blockage are the vent thru-hull and the other end of the vent line--that end of the hose and the vent fitting on the tank. Start by cleaning out the thru-hull...use a screwdriver blade, ice pick--whatever works. If that doesn't result in a spew out the vent, you'll need to relieve the pressure before removing the vent line from the tank to clean them out...so open the deck pumpout fitting VERY CAREFULLY with a hose at the ready. Be sure you're UPwind of it! Scrape out that end of the vent line and the vent fitting on the tank...reconnect the vent line.

If you've tried to pump out the tank and that also goes very slowly, that will confirm a partially blocked tank vent.

Could it also be that you have a discharge blockage or build up within the hoses?

A possibility I overlooked but worth looking into. However, that would only be half the problem...the other more important half is what is allowing water to come into the bowl all by itself. I wonder if the solenoid valve in the flush water supply line isn't closing completely ...that it may be in need of either cleaning out some debris that's gotten into it or replacement. I suggest you run that possibility by the folks at Lee Sanitation too.
