Jabsco in line strainer

I have a Jabsco Pumgard strainer just before the pump which drains the shower sump. Is there supposed to be an o-ring seal under the clear plastic screw on dome? I don't see one when I take the dome off.

There should be on all strainers. ACE Hardware is a good place to get them.

Yes. It may be in the cover or in the groove in the base. Without the o-ring it should leak.
