Hello Peggie, After lubrication, Jabsco manual head pump quickly (a week or so) develops lots of friction or resistance and becomes hard to pump again. I followed your previous recommendations and obtained SuperLube Teflon grease, and applied it liberaly to the pump rid O-ring and to the piston bore, and it works like a charm, but only for a while. Is there a "Plan B"? Thanks.

Air no where to go

Remove and clean the breather vent on your holding tank. It could be that the vent is clogged and will not allow the air to excape thus causing a preasurized holding tank.

Tank vent is the first thing to check...

If it's open, the other most likely source of your problem is a failed wet/dry valve--which isn't actually a valve, but a little gate (Jabsco calls it a cam) that the lever swings to block and unblock the flow of incoming flush water. Due to either a tooling or mfr'g defect, that little gate has a nasty tendency to hang, creating a feeling of backpressure that many owners mistake for a clog. Greasing the toilet prob'ly un-hung it briefly. This is a VERY common problem in Jabsco toilets made in the last 7-8 years...one that Jabsco doesn't seem inclined to fix...at least not until the mold in which that little gate is made wears out...if then. Do yourself a HUGE favor: bite the bullet and replace that hunk of junk with a Raritan PH II...or PHC, which is the same pump on a compact base, if the full size PH II won't fit in your head.

I had a Jabsco rep recomend

I have a similar problem, while at a boat show a met a Jabsco rep that looked like he had been around a while. My head works great for 20 flushes or so then the plunger gets tight. He told me to just pour a cap of vegetable oil in the pot and flush once a week. I have done this ever since and all has worked great. Harmless to the environment, takes only seconds and cheap.

as peggy said

the wet dry valve likes to back off a little and back pressure the pump. make sure it is in the correct position. Sometimes you have to hold it in the dry position as you pump. I keep an old dish soap container filled with vegetable oil in the head and give it a squirt when it gets stubborn, you definately don't need to flush a cup of it, just a small squirt works wonders. I've even used bacon grease but its probably not recommended.
