I just finished a very frustrating rebuild of a Jabsco 37010, and thought I should post while this is fresh in my mind.

I found the rebuild instructions inadequate. The biggest problem was the instruction to "relocate centrifugal impeller on shaft, about 1/8" from the wearplate, and tighten set screw."

After significant troubleshooting I figured out that 1/8" from the wearplate was not the right dimension -- on my unit I had room for about 1/32" from the wearplate, otherwise the centrifugal impeller would bind on the macerator housing and the pump would not rotate (after assembly of course, no hint of problems until it is all back together.)

Other omissions from the instructions -- no illustration or hints about how the pump rotates or which direction to bend impeller blades, no illustration or hints about which way to face the macerator blades, etc. Of course it is possible to figure this stuff out, but why couldn't Jabsco give the customer a little help and confidence?

It sounds like you have a Jabsco impeller pump and re 're-build' kit is giving you problems. Welcome to the club except that I have had a two Jabsco diaphragm pumps fail on me and the expensive rebuild kits never worked out properly.
This is the reason I have switched to the Rule pumps for pumping out my bilge which are waay cheaper then the Jabsco models and can be purchased new for around $50 or less.
I could buy 4 Rule pumps for the price of 1 Jabsco diaphragm pump and the 're-build' kit costs as much as 1 Rule pump.
From the word 'macerator' I would guess that this is for your head or holding tank?
YMMV = your mileage may vary.

Makes no diff which way you turn the rubber impeller when you install it. Soon's the motor starts running, it will bend the impeller blades in the correct direction all by itself. Just be sure to first grease the inside of the pump cavity well, to keep friction to a minimum until the water comes in to lubricate it.

I could be wrong, but I thought there was a 'stop' of some kind on the motor shaft, to position the centrifugal impeller correctly, and give it adequate clearance without binding.

Caleb, the Jabsco 37010 is a macerating electric toilet..

I don't think Rule makes toilets. :)

However, his tale of woe illustrates only one of the MANY reasons why I don't recommend Jabsco products.
