I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Checked out the bottom of the boat today. This is the WORST slime growth I have ever dealt with. The barnacles are slim to none, but this slime is bad.

Anyone else notice a bad slime this year?

Haven't noticed slime, but there is an invasive species of algae in the Upper Delaware River. It is called "Rock Snot".

It could spread rapidly to local trout streams because many trout anglers will cover 2 or 3 streams regularly. I fly fish the Pohatcong Creek, the Musconetcong River and the South Branch of the Raritan. I would hate to see rock snot get into them.

Cool... reminds me of many years ago when I had an outbreak of "snot algae" in my refugium for my SW reef tank...

Its caused by 'mahogany tides' ... virulent and 'early' algae blooms on the Ches. this year.

Caused by low fresh water coming into the bay, etc., higher than normal temps., 'pollution' (aka failing sewage treatment and sewerage lines) ... and westerly winds instead of southerlies which keep the bay 'turned over' and 'mixed'.

Lots of info in the local newspapers, accuweather, MD-DNR, etc.

Its already a 'stinking' MESS ..... and thats why Ive switched to Micron-Extra a few years back: no slime which blinds off the copper so the barnacles can get a 'foothold'. Its shaping up to be an extreme year for barnacles on the Ches. for those who dont use an anti-slime bottom paint .... unless the prevailing winds change back to 'southerly' and it ever begins to rain heavily to sweep out the Ches.

My boat's been in the water about 6 weeks on Back Creek at Solomons and the rudder has a lot of slime on it at this point.
