The boat is alll put away for winter on cradle, custom cover on, batteries disconnected & charged, etc., etc. All I have to worry about is checking on it once a month. I just have to think about Spring launch and my next improvements. Right? WRONG! Got a message from the harbor master yesterday that my vessel has been struck by a truck. Supposed damage to bow pulpit and anchor locker area. I don't yet have all the details since I have not talked with a live voice or seen the damage.
Guess a 36 foot boat is kind of hard to see. :cussing:Well, my only saving grace is that I removed my life lines 2 weeks ago otherwise I'm sure it would/could have been worse. I'll soon see how good my insurance company is. It's BoatUS. I have contacted them already. Since this was totally not my fault do you think I will have to pay the deductable? There was a police report written. Kind of hard for the driver to get out of this one.
My obvious concerns are getting this boat fixed on time - probably next Spring. I store this boat on a Navy base and they don't have the typical maintenace available. Also worried about the structural integrity near the hit since it is in the area of the forestay.
What are your experiences with insurance companies? What else should I be doing/asking? What to look for in my damage assessment?
Yes, it could be worse. No one is hurt. Hope your Christmas season is going better than mine.
