I am now 75 years old and find that handling my H34 is more work than I can do thus I am going to put it up for sale. Any ideas as to the best method for listing it will be appreciated. Of course, I will list it on this site as soon as I can take some photos. My boat is a 1986 model and is extremely well equiped. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Bob

One Suggestion, Bob...

...I have offered boats for sale by owner (and sold two on this site) but have also provided broker incentive at 5% and provided them with photos, detailed descriptions and contact info. I found some salespeople were very active in showing the boat despite not having an exclusive, but the boats sold privately quickly enough that no brokers commission was paid. Rick D.

selling your boat online

I too recommend www.craigslist.org. For online, the rule of thumb is to provide as much information as you can (the more, the better), and to include high-quality digital photos. Listings that contain tons of information and high-quality photos will generally bring you better-qualified buyers and generate fewer time-wasting phone calls. Small, poor photos might discourage prospective buyers. Craigslist won't let you post big pictures, but you should be able to link from a graigslist ad to a link on a blog site such as www.blogger.com or to an MSN group by creating your own group (http://groups.msn.com/). Post your bigger pictures there. You might reconsider listing with a broker - many of the brokerages in my area get a significant amount of foot traffic, and they post on www.yachtworld.com making your boat highly visible. Plus, they have to deal with those who want to talk your ear off but not buy your boat :)
