The wife, dog and I will be throwing off the lines this May to go cruising for 12-15 months.

Edit: I should have given a little more info. We have a loose plan to sail first to the Canadian Maritimes for the summer. After that we may head to the Chesapeake for the fall and then maybe the Bahamas for the winter. We have spent a decent amount of time in the Caribbean both on shore and chartering. We have no desire at this point to return.

Close enough that you can begin nicking off days on the calendar! Congratulations!

Congrats! Are you planning a sail south down the coast or offshore to the Caribbean? From Maine you should be able to do either, right? Offshore south to Bermuda and then to the USVI (that is what I have read...). Being in Florida, I am always going to go the thorny path since I am always starting at the top of it... my first goal is to sail over to the Bahamas. I am trying to get myself and the boat ready so I can do that this year.

Wow!! That is exciting Tim, though I'm not surprised to hear it. Just the Canadian Maritimes would be a treat. Hell, right now a long weekend would seem like a luxury!

Wow! I wish I could see a day that this happens for us, but that day is pretty far over the horizon.
