We closed on the sale this past weekend. Now the fun begins.:dance:

The short list of projects:

  1. Replace the Colostomy bag with a 22 gallon hard tank (ordered), and all tubes and fittings
  2. Move water pump to bulkhead
  3. Replace counter top, faucets in head and galley
  4. Install Cabinet fronts port and starboard
  5. Re-cover cabin cushions
  6. Refinish cabin sole
  7. epoxy fill base of compression post
  8. Move 2 27 G batteries to location over shower sump
  9. Refinish cabin teak (table, bulk heads, knees, cabinets, drawers, table, etc...)
  10. Reinstall hanging cabinet over couter/sink with small microwave
  11. Refinish (strip and oil) deck grab rail and combing step teak
  12. remove gelcoat oxidation (poliglow stripper)
  13. Kiwi grip non skid
  14. Poliglow Hull and smooth surfaces on deck
  15. Install New VHF, Chart platter, stereo
  16. Keel fin extension aft (may wait until next year on this)
  17. misc wiring
  18. Lots of cleaning
  19. Bottom paint
  20. Bowsprit for Anchor
  21. Splash by May 1st
This should keep me busy this winter.

Congratulations. That's a pretty short list for a Cherubini. Keep us informed as you check it off. How much time per week do you figure?

It will vary. 10-15 hours per week if I can get away with it. The boat is about an hour from home, so I will most likely dedicate Saturdays to it and push into Sunday if the Saturday work requires additional time to keep it moving. The boat has a Dickinson Newport Diesel heater so I will get it working first (I am unfamiliar with its operation at this point) which will help with the cold that is coming to the NE. Wood working and finishing will be done in my shop at home which means I can get a few hours in each evening.

As far as your list - would recommend you reconsider number 10.
"Reinstall hanging cabinet over counter/sink with small microwave"

It took me six years to remove the cabinet from over the sink. All it did was get in the way. Can't tell you the number of times I bumped my head on it. After taking it out, the cabin opens up from both the galley side and the salon side. For the microwave a hanging bracket was attached about 8" from the galley going into the aft berth. A ground fault circuit interrupter GFCI a/c outlet was wired into the galley cabinet wall for an easy plug in next to the microwave. This outlet is great for supplying 110v a/c to extension cords for outside work on the deck.

Point taken and good idea about the alternative location. I will have to see how I can make it work. I did not want to give up the oven for a microwave.

Interesting. I use that shelf so often and for so much, I can't imagine being without it. And I've never hit my head on it.

The group of "regulars" at this forum are most helpful, and they all wish for everyone to get mileage of their boats: I just tyook a drive(1 hour) to looka t my boat, got a flat tire on the way back... couldn't resist checking the boat. I named it "Obssession"... most appropriate

you might want to take a look at the Half Time oven made by Apollo...it is a microwave / convection oven all in one ....look it up on the walmart site( internet only)...they make great corn bread ......have used it several times and am well satisfied with it ...just a thought .....congrats on your new to you boat...

Thanks Sam, much obliged. Give me a call this weekend. I will be at the CCSC yard for most of it and its only about 5 minutes from Forked River. SSCS supplies most of the cradles and it is on one now. I just do not know if it has her name painted on it indicating it is.

Thanks Woody. We have a small Rival 700 watt MW (we got it at Walmart) on our current S/V that we use quite often in port that seems to do the job we need it for; quick meals while in port (our diets call for simple zaps of a 1-2 minutes with it, nothing fancy). It was cheap ($50). Not sure what we'll put in this one but I appreciate the recommendation. It will depend on size and weight for the location we ultimately choose, and power draw on a pure sine wave inverter.

Welcome to the Cherubini group. Black and Decker make (or made) a combination microwave/convection/ toaster oven we have had on Midnight Sun for years.

Don't understand the "keel extention" on your list. Is it a H33 thing I have just missed?
If you can get all that done by May 1st, and hold a fulltime job, and stay married, you need to write a book and tell the rest of us poor ba%^$#ds what we are doing wrong.

Paul F- I hit my head also on that shelf and was knocked silly one time; but where do you put all of the dishes and cups and other stuff that collects there? (A pic would be great) Ed H

Are you guys 6'4" and trying to look down the sink drain? How did you hit your head?

LOL, this stuff is too good. For additional room, I took off all the extra stuff I had stored on the boat over the years. It was amazing how much useless, may need it one day, stuff that was taking up room. The dishes are now stored in the drawers on the starboard side of the salon. I actually have the top drawer free for items brought on-board for overnights. There is a fair amount of additional room in back of these drawers. I have put paint items in one back drawer area and electric items in another. They are in plastic boxes and easy to access when needed.

The galley counter with sink is the only work space inside the boat. When working there - cutting wood, wiring electronics, or doing anything I would hit my head. With the self gone the work is much easier and my head less bruised :)

Ah work bench. Never done that there. I don't think I've come close to the shelf with cleaning dishes and food prep. I have even hung a tv on it and don't hit my head on that either.

Paul F; If you had your 33 on a trailer in the side yard like a sane person such as myself you would have your whole shop right there to work out of.

I just exited the head and the boat rolled sharply. Ka-pow right in the forehead. I actually saw "stars". ED H

And here I have been thinking a boat is for sailing, but you have it as a workshop in your backyard!
What was I thinking?
I will have it hauled out of the marina immediately and put on stands right away... now I know why your neighbours mutter about a fleet in your backyard...
