Kinda like Evil Knievel and his rocket!
Come on now. I sat on the roof of my house in Twin Falls and watched Evel go. He would have made the jump with a couple of miles to spare if the cork on a broom handle that was his triggering mechanism did deploy his landing shoot right on the launch ramp. You can see the drogue shoot starting to open at 2:30 before it even reaches the top of the ramp. At 2:33 the drogue pulls the main shoot which is fully open 2:38. The whole time the drogue is turning the rocket in a nose down attitude due the attachment point being below the nozzle. The projected range was 3+ miles but a simple bearing failure caused it to go all pie-shaped.
I have no idea what happened with the cat but that there was funny! It would have been funnier still if the cat made the jump because that is a metal roof with a pretty steep pitch so there is no way he was going to "Stick" the landing!
