Its about people, not results.

Last night on a light-air day we had the father of our bowman ask if he and his daughter could sail with us on BlueJ. They both often sail with us on our much larger Kestrel. BlueJ is not a great light air boat even with a light crew, so I knew 7 on board would kill our chances. But this is not always about winning. So we loaded up everone, and brought extra beer. We finshed DFL, but had a blast. We could toss the result, so still in 2nd place in the series. All good. As you can see, we really suffered.

I would have been happy to be suffering right there along with all the misery that was going on... its a good thing someone thought to bring along some extra beverages to keep everyones spirits up.

DFL is only a mark on a piece of paper, yet it seems as if the boat was crewed by a load of winners...and the paper dont matter. but then I dont race and dont wanna race, so what do I know about it all, other than what the genuine smiles in the photo say:D:D:D:D

Looks like such a great time, not a downcast face in the frame. I'd happily swap places with any one of them!

We actually sailed pretty well, but the F260 is slow to her rating in <=5knots. The 7 bodies did not help, but we have a hardfast rule to not leave BlueJ/Kestrel teammates on the dock. It might hurt us now and again in a light air race, but the karma pays off longer term. Plus, its nice to have lots on hands in the corners!
