Hunter Legend 40.5 Shoreline Marina Long Beach CA
Dr. Giovanni Saccomani posted this link to a regatta in his home port on his Facebook page. Near the end, you'll see his Hunter Legend 40.5 crossing the finish. Some good footage in the last half on the water. The first half of the 8 minute piece is probably better if your Italian is decent. One thing I noticed is the tight berthing! I was surprised when he told me that they customarily haul for the winter notwithstanding it's the Med. However, the harbor doesn't look that protected and it isn't where I'd want my boat in a serious storm, so it makes sense.

Below are pics I shot at Lido di Ostia, the recreational seaport for Rome, in Sept. '08. Note the huge breakwater, the control tower for shipping traffic, and the tight placement. Docking is stern-to, with anchors set Med style as there are no bow pilings to tie up to.

Tight placements indeed! You should see the size and number of fenders they use and need for each side to protect their boats from the others on each side.

The last shot is a commercial promenade with shops. The three story building in the far center houses the Roma Yacht Club and "Dimension Mare", the Italian equivalent to West Marine. Public beaches stretch from here (looking north) south.
