Does anyone know who manufactures (and/or sells) the refridgeration compressors that run off your engine? All I've been able to find are the thermoelectric jobs. thanks

Most do - special order

Remeber that just becuase the big on-line stores don't list something, doesn't mean they can't get it for you. If Alder-Barber doesn't sell one (I thought they did) then try Gunnert (sp?)

Why not electric compressor?

The new ones are much better than the old ones were. And you will need to run your engine at least one hour per day, even in seculuded anchorages. Also, running an engine just to power the front take-off (alternator, refrigerator) and not the back (drive shaft) is supposed to be very hard on the engine. What about a diesel-driven alternator? (sort of a 12 volt generator.)

Engine Driven systems

Sea Frost sells this type of equipment. You should consider using the small DC compressor systems as they are more reliable and less money than a big engine driven system. For the same amount of money you can put a new alternator, new batteries and two new dc refrigeration systems on your boat. Phil Williams WAECO Adler/Barbour

engine drive

Why would you want an engine drive?? The small DC refrigeration systems are SOOOOO much more efficient. Try this site www.frigoboat.com It will tell you everything you need to know about refrigeration on your boat.
