The mast on my Islander 36 snapped, due to a failed chain plate. I'm needing information on repairing it or replacing it with a used one. I can't afford to have a new one made. Does anyone know of a used one that's available?

Bummer ; Have you looked at the I36 web site ? They have some great info and an active group to assist you in this problem . When we bought our I36 we noticed the tabbing on stb. side completely broken out . As with most boats of this vintage the shrouds bedding and attachments should be examined . Your problem is typical . I would assume the mast is generic and you should be able to find a used one . At least you may have to buy a blank and attach your hard-wear . Good luck Capt. Ed
While you're at it, you should probably replace all the chainplates on the boat, since the others are likely in almost as bad a shape as the one that failed. I'd also recommend going with all new standing rigging.
How did it break? Do you have photos? It is possible to repair broken masts with an internal sleave. This was discussed a few weeks ago.

Perhaps you should give the extrusion dimensions as there are generic blanks that would work,also,where are you located....I know of a few spars looking for a new friend,however,it would only make sense if you are close enough to make shipping worthwhile.Ian
If the mast isn't too messed up... you could possible cut it down at the break and sleeve it internally. You will loose something in height.
