Not meaning to restart the Polyglow vs Island Girl debate, I have a problem with the application of the Simply Brillant Wax in the Island Girl Process. On the third step of the process, according to instructions, you apply the wax, with some catalyst first and on further coats apply with the towel moistened with catalyst to apply wax and spread it out. After drying in 90 degree heat for 3 or 4 hours first time, several days or wiped, second time, with microfiber cloth and dry for a day, third time, before a rain the shine is removed where the rain runs over the hull. One of the steps the instructions recommend for this problem is to wipe dull area with Silken Sheen to remove dullness. After doing that, dry for a day, and it rains it dulls again. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Has anyone had this problem and how did you lick it. I have sent an email to Island Products, but not received a reply in a week. Thanks Goodwinds, DaveM s/v DAMWEGAS

Good sense of humor Dave

In all seriousness though, I did have your exact problem with IG a few years back which did make me switch for the next season. I cannot tell you how much better the boat looks and how easy it is to use. Last month my 1976 Pearosn was at a dock and someone walked by stating "that is what I like about these newer boats" referring to some aspect of the boat. I told him it was 30 years old and he could not believe it. I have also had 2 different boat yards ask me about the product after seeing what it did. And one last one, I got a comment last week about how good the "new Awgrip" looked on my topsides. I told them it has never been painted. Enough already. Here are the results Tim R.

You might want to give island Girl a call. Email is fairly unreliable these days and Jim is really good about getting back to people. When the two products are used properly they both look good but they're different. I think IG makes a boat look more like new -- truly new, like a boat just off the line at a boat show. PG is very glossy. That Awlgrip comment is right on. I think the IG looks more natural but you may like like the PG look better, as Tim does. Either way, give jim a call. I'm sure he can figure out what's not right.

I think that I reply to all my e-mails within a day - did you use islandgirlproducts@mac.com rather than our old windows virus trap? ou can attach pics also. We now have a new internet toll free number which is 1-877 434 2089. Your question is easily answered. With regard to the poliglow IG thing. Try wiping PG on a waxed brand new boat, chrome or painted surface (unsanded) and see if it sticks? Thanks Jim W

Well, if…

… you're licking it, you're reading the directions wrong.
