Has anyone used the Island Girl Products? What was your result? Pleased, pleased but lots of work, not so great? I'm especially interested in the Elixir product.

Check the archives first

There was quite a thread just a few weeks ago when someone else posed the exact same question.

Island Girl

Search the archives for the phrase "Island Girl" you'll get 500 hits going back to 2002. That ought to keep you busy for a while.

I like it

I Have used it a newer 5 years old and a 22 year old boat. It worked well on both. It is not really a lot of work. but the instructions are a bit confusing I distilled them down and made my own then laminated them. The Elixir I have no experience with but if it works like they say it should work well.

Good Stuff

I have an old green boat which tends to oxidize quickly and nothing works on it as well as Island Girl. It's super easy to use (paper towel, no buffing, no elbow grease) and it lasts all season. Good luck!

I didn't like it

I thought IG was useless and a waste of my money. And there is lots of discussion in the archives. It seems many are happy and many are not.

Hated it.

Used it and found it very over rated, expensive and misleading. There are no short cuts and this stuff proves it. I tried the Poli Glow the next year and although it was slightly better and easier to remove it also sucks. Oh yeah and after it started to peel & discolor it took two days of hard work to get it off my hull. I could have wet sanded & buffed my boat in a day! Can you say 1-800 Salad Shooter? Junk!

Poli Glow

I used Poli-Glow 3 years ago and it held up well-- no peeling at all. My boat was on the hard this winter for bottom painting and I reapplied Poli-Glow. Looks great and I have no reason to expect any problems for the next 3 years. I don't know that is any easier to apply than wax but it seems to last longer and really repel dirt. Sorry, I don't know about IG.
