I bought Island Girl restoration system 1-2 years before even using it.http://www.islandgirlproducts.com/In 2001, I restored my top deck with Awlgrip which produced beautiful and long-lasting results; however, awlgrip is very expensive and professional labor intensive. At haulout, 2002, I decided to try out the IG system as I had already invested in the products and I was intrigued by the claims. My hull is old - and the mildew stains, discolorations and general condition were grim, at best. Bleach and brushes simply temporarily masked the symptoms.Initially I was daunted, hesitant about the process and knew I had a huge project.I followed the directions and the results were amazing: 1. SeaGlow for preparation is essential; 2. Superwax followed with Silkenseal; 3. MirrorHard Superglaze.I also used a B/D Scumbuster as recommended for easier application.2006, 4 years later, my boat has been described as “museum quality”. The hull still beads water and I have NEVER followed the suggested follow-up steps of periodic applications of SilkenSeal or anything else. I have washed down with Simple Green only. The top blue stripe is showing signs of fading, but the majority of the hull appears shiny and “waxed”.This coming week I plan on restoring the newness of the awlgrip with MH Superglaze and resealing the hull with MH Superglaze and Elixer. I will use my leftover, 4 yr old Superwax on the stainless. Also, back in 2001, I used the TufShield varnish-restoration system which has also been remarkable in longevity. Still looks freshly done. http://www.marisolmarine.com/parts/tufshield.htmlI also plan on using the IG system on an old Volvo sedan, which will propel the independent Volvo service guys to use IG products.Use Island Girl products – they really work!!Dr. Willis has been more than gracious and extremely helpful in the use of his stellar and amazing, Island Girl Products.
