Isinglass Cleaner? Recommendation

Friends,

After 8 weeks with our boat, we love our Beneteau 40. The birds do too. We're in a constant battle to keep the Isinglass clean. So far just using water. What do folks recommend for some more systematic cleaning and scratch removal?

I am surprised that I didn't find a prior topic on cleaning Isinglass.

Thanks

Isinglass - difficult to find since few skippers use that term anymore. They're busy calling them "windows!" [Just a little humor there, matey!] :)

Plexus works for us. In addition we have covers for the glass, all of it. You don't leave yours out in the sun all the time, do you?

This is the Isinglass on the dodger. So I do leave it in the sun. :)

The IMAR products are recommended by the isenglass manufacturer. I have used these products with great satisfaction. I do have a question.

Do you have covers for your dodger "windows"? (Hi Stu). I have covers on my dodger and I'm pretty consistant about using them when I am not sailing. They help quite a bit to keep the isenglass from becoming opaque from sun damage. Perhaps they might be worth looking into (little joke, get it? heh, heh, heh).

There are only three things the ever touch our windows.

#1 Hose water but NEVER a sponge or scrub brush or boat soap...

#2 Clean, fresh out of the bag, microfiber rags (Sam's Club 30 packs). Once used they are never used on the glass again.

#3 IMAR Products. Our windows look just as good today as they did the day they were installed.

This is key. If you do truly leave the window permanently exposed to the sun, no amount of cleaner or magic method is going to prevent the deterioration of your isinglass.

I unsnap the window covers when sailing, and snap them back on when docked, and recommend you do the same. Get some if you don't have some.
