Do you dump you freshwater tanks before the race? Racing the 29.5, I have two opposing theories. A) all weight is bad, dump all that you can, versus B) well distributed weight is okay, and sense the 29.5 can be tail heavy, it races better with the freshwater tanks full. Any thoughts?

dump the water

a cubic foot of water weighs 67 pounds if memory serves correct . thats a lot of beer . you can move the cases from settee to settee as needed for balast and when the race is over you can quench the thirst

Remove all the weight

water, etc. A lighter boat will sail faster in most all conditions. Your crew can be positioned for best trim, on the rail, windward/leeward, fore/aft, and their weight will not have to conteract any excessive weight you are carrying. Naturally extra sails, gear etc should be low and amidship over the keel, possibly to the same side as your crew. Good luck. PJ
