Is this normal (hull thickness)?

So I'm messing around installing my sanitation hoses and look up into the area under the v-berth and see this? That's the outside light being able to be seen through the hull---normal? I know the hulls aren't very think on an O'Day but gosh...can others see this on their boats anywhere? There is also a small area where I can see this same thing in the huge compartment (I call it the wine cellar) under the cockpit.

It's the best pic I could get on my cell phone.

That is quite normal. Fiberglass is translucent so the only thing stopping a lot of light from getting through is the gelcoat..

Actually, even gelcoat is somewhat translucent....... although barely. Light penetrates my boat anywhere there is no paint covering either the inside or outside. But you need to view in an area of the boat that is well shaded in the interior, like just under the cuddy "floor" (very similar to under your V-berth). Basically, our boats are built out of resin infused "fiber-optic" material... fiber-optic cables are in their most basic form, just strands of fiberglass.
