In one of your posts you said the BOAT had to be doing 40 for this to happen. You weren't clear as to whether you were talking about speed relative to the wave. I was simply pointing out that the RELATIVE speed could indeed reach 40. Adding the speed of the wave at say, 35 and a boat motoring at 5 gives you 40, not 25. I wasn't disagreeing, just pointing out that it COULD happen by way of your own assertion, that a relative speed of 40 is possible.Would that cause THAT boat to launch? I happen to think so. I'm not about to try out this theory with my 40 footer although I used to do it with my Hobie Miracle 20 from time to time (I know, I know, different boat, different physics.)Also, to use your analogy, I can definately get my car airborne at less than 40. We've got a wave sized bridge hump near our marina called 'thrill hill.' Come on down, I'll demo.
