Is this a yacht ... or not

She must have sailed last night or early this morning ...
My photos were taken at about 4:00 yesterday afternoon. I was at the south end of Weehawken, across that little neck of water at the north end of Hoboken and Eos was quite a bit south of there, more across from Jersey City. I don't know what those piers are called. They must be south of Chelsea Piers.
Gardiners Bay ... Hmm ... that begs the question ... did she sail under The Verrazano out to the Atlantic and around Montauk Point or did she go under the Brooklyn Bridge and all those other bridges over the East River and sail out Long Island Sound?

Eos or Epic, which arrived a year ago in June when I was working at the waterfront in Weehawken. This was taken about a month or so after her maiden voyage.

Here's some more info and pics on Eos. Apparently the owner, Barry Diller, is very publicity shy regarding his yacht and there is very little known about the interior. I searched around for a bit and was unable to find any pictures of Eos under sail. So if any of your more persistant researchers find some.... please post.

I am going to be a pissant. These kind of boats don't impress me. So the owner has a ton of money. Sailing that boat across an ocean is no big deal. I have no desire to own a boat like that. Show me someone who sails a 30 footer around the world and I am impressed.
Scott - The picture you posted on page 2 - not the Eos looks like the sister ship to the Norwegian dawn who's home port is (or was) on the Hudson river. Many years back I was sailing with 2 people I didn't know on a rented 26 foot sailboat. It was the end of the day and I was dozing off in the cockpit since the wind died down we were bobbing around for the most part until I heard 5 really loud horn blows from the cruise ship. Lets say it was enough to wake the dead. I looked up from under the sail and saw what looks like a big smile on the bow of cruise ship (that's what it looks like when you're looking up about to be run over). The guy who was at the helm of our boat didn't seem phased - he was trying to sail out of the path of the cruise ship and I realized he wasn't going to make it. I was a little rough with the guy as I shoved him out of the way, started the engine and just got us out of the way in time. When you can see the whites of passengers eyes on the balconies you're too damn close. The one thing that really surprised me is there was absolutely no wake. I never sailed with those dolts again. Every time I see that painted bow I think of that day.
