I've had the TackTick wind, speed, depth and temp system installed on my boat since 2007. I've been very happy with it. My installation is a bit unusual, since the instrument displays are mounted on a Beckson 5"x12" opening port, which allows them to be swung up out of the way when at anchor and provide the cabin with more ventilation. The port also protects the instruments from getting hit and prevents the covers from being pulled off accidentally.

I was going to ask the same question. I heard that at least the earlier versions were sealed units, in that when the batteries (rechargeable) went bad, you basically was stuck since they wouldn't replace or service them. Not sure if that is true anymore - but it was about four or five years ago - maybe someone can clarify.

AFAIK, that's true of the current units as well..but it doesn't seem to be an issue as far as I've seen.
