Is this a common H34 sole problem?

I found this picture on the site and noticed that the sole has the same soft/rotted spot as my H34, right between the engine and the ice box, at the tip of the panel. (Lower right corner of the picture)

I'm in the process of replacing all the teak and holly and was wondering if there is some issue which is causing this problem.

Leakage through the companion way? Ice box leakage? Water in the bilge or below the sole?

Mine was discolored by leakage from two places; the companionway pocket, and the port over the icebox. .. The drain holes at the forward end of the pocket, under the sea hood, were not opened after construction as they should have been. Water would collect in the pocket and then slop over the aft edge onto the floor.. I opened the hood and opened the drains.. The other source of leakage for me was the 4-14 opening port over the icebox.. bad window gaskets and bad sealing around the window over the years.. I recently replaced both aft-looking ports and sealed with Dow 795. The work inside the sea hood pocket is documented on site here.. picture is of the stbd 4-14 hole where the port was. I made shims to fill the space between the liner ad the ply core.. You can see that the core is in good shape..

I have the issue with the main hatch leaking above, which drains mostly to the sink and galley decking and also the aluminum main hatchway edge leaking to the engine cover and down the engine enclosure. I need to replace much of the wood there in the galley/engine area. Please post your efforts and results.

Found another leak today while working on the boat in the rain. Water dripping out from under ceiling above the ice box.

I'll post what we find when we chase the leak with a hose one spot at a time.

hosed down the companion way area an found a flood of water thru the 4 x 14 over the ice box. I have a replacement lens that i hadn't installed yet. Now on critical path. I've tried to remove the hinge pins but may have to pull out the entire unit on order to tap them clear.

Fixed the port over the ice box, but found water dripping down from under the trash can and still from the ceiling above the ice box.
