The drawing for the 310 plumbing in the manual shows a Y valve between the output of the toilet and the holding tank or macerator. I don't think I have on my boat (#185) and that the toilet goes directly to the holding tank. Is that correct?
There is also a philosophical thing at work here: does everything go into the tank first even if you go overboard, or should it go overboard first if it isn't going into the tank. This is a MAJOR consideration in your plumbing. West Marine likes the "everything through the tank" method. I think that's absurd, why stuff anything into the tank that doesn't have to go there? Why require a macerator for overboard discharge ever if it can just go directly? http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...ding-Tanks.htmThe discharge line from the head goes to the holding tank.... then if you want to pump out the holding tank over board, open up the thru the hull valve and turn on the macerator pump.
