Is there a vent for the water tank?

I plan to add a new filler to my water tank on my 1981 Hunter 25. I believe it has the original water tank which is a flexable tank under the cockpit floor. It fills from the starboard side locker. Just don't seem to see a vent and maybe it is not needed with these flexable tanks. Help is appreciated.

h25 water tank

OME was a 14 gallon bladder, which it seems you still have. No vent, just patience to fill. I tore mine out and put in a 9 gallon hard plastic tank with vent because I wanted pressurized water. Fill is right at the top of the tank, because patience is not my strongest personality trait. I don't know that there's an easy way to vent a bladder. Hope this helps, Regards, Jim

What a vent does

You need a vent on a rigid tank because you need to let the air out as you put water, fuel, black water...... in. Otherwise, you end up either letting the air out the fill hole (glug glug like pouring a glass of wine) or pressurizing the tank if the fill hole is stoppered. Flexible tanks do not need vents as there is no air in them to begin with. They just keep expanding as fluid is added.

Thanks for the responses. Figured no vent.

Thanks for your explanation of how a flexable tank works. Never had one before but this one seems to work great so far. I am moving the fill to the cockpit so it will not get water in the locker. Will probably take patience to fill but we sailers have lots of patience.

Could you give more details on changing the water tank. How did you fit it in the space? thanks Bob
