One of the ways Jayne and I make it through December, January, and February is to sit by the fire and talk about our annual spring break trip south (I work for a college and get a "free" week off each year). Has (or will) the gulf coast recover enough to head down there next March? We usually take our motorhome down and camp somewhere along the seashore, and try to rent a daysailer for several days. The Mississippi coast is fine, Tom,
and most of Alabama is OK. My mother just finished a condo week in Gulf Shores. Florida is another story. It may be OK by spring break, but right now the campgrounds are still full of people/campers waiting on home repair. I brought a yacht from Pensacola to New Orleans several weeks back. The damage is terrible. You might want to consider Port St Joe, South of Panama City. Nice park with RV facilities.

Where are You Traveling to?
Here in the Florida Panhandle east of Navarre is fine btween there and Mobile you may want to make other plans. If you have never visited the south Texas coast it may be worth the additional miles South Padre Island should be avoided at all costs during Spring Break however.

Try Mexico Beach, Florida
While we did receive some damage from the recent storms, all is fully recovered now. Instead of the high profile areas such as PC Beach and Daytona, try what we call "The quiet alternative." Mexic Beach is located about 20 minutes from Panama City in the Panhandle. We have the worlds most beautiful beaches. Plenty of rentals and rv parks available. I have always said, "the kids go to Panama City Beach for spring break, their parents come here."
