Not to get crazy, but original HIN for my boat which by the way I found under a piece of wood bolted to the stern is not the one on my florida title. I proudly showed it the the game and fish inspector and he took a photo of it. After some months an answer was provided. The HIN on the title was generated because the PO could not show the Number (hidden remember?) and to complicate it the PO before him had registered the boat in Alabama which does not issue boat titles so the "original HIn was in question" according to Florida. So I have a title with a FLZ series number (which is used for homemade vessels.) and a sticker on the stern with that number and a engraved HIN right next to it. Thank god I did not decide to document it.

If I had driven the 4 hours. I would have truly enjoyed it. It was the 4 hour return trip that got me.

Kermit;

Crazy Dave did show you where you hull number Wes on the starboard aft of hull below the hull to deck joint. You will find it also in the forward drip rail when you raise that companion way up you rascal

Your math is horrible. 2 hours each way. Not 4 hours.
And if John had stayed in Charleston an extra day I would have bought him a :beer:.

He had a second chance, but he left Savannah a day early too. :poke:

It’s the original sail. And yes it’s the hull number. If I ever have to replace the sail it’ll have this on it but in blue.
I think it is really a Middle East flag for a group supporting terrorism. @Kermit are you getting us all put on a no fly list. I doubt @jssailem will drive 3000 miles to drink your beer.

Joking!!

Back to Kermit's original question: post where? Like in a for sale ad? I believe the last 2 digits of the HIN are year of manufacture, at least for most HIN formats. The earliest may not use this standard. So it would help assure the reader or potential buyer how old it really is.
My 23 ends in 91. I think that may have been about the last year it was built.

I was mainly referring to posts here. Telling hull numbers seems customary and I was wondering why it seems important.

I think it is important because it locates the hull within the design mods. Manufacturers do not necessarily indicate a Mark N, Mod N to indicate which mods are homologous to that boat.
