Does anyone know if Rig-rite, in Warwick, Ct. is still in business? I have left messages several times and still no return call. Maybe they are on Holiday?

They were there a couple weeks ago. Incredible resource for older boats. It would be a major headache for many of us if anything happened to them.

Yikes. I just checked their web site and it has been hacked but what looks like a suicide bomber's last testament. Don't go there until you hear that they are back on line.

Well, their website has been hacked by the looks of it with no response from them... so it doesn't look good.

Really? Their web site could be a little more user friendly but I always found their service incredible. I'd call at 4:00 pm for something and the UPS box would be on the doorstep the next day.

Roger, they must have really liked you. I also found them very difficult to deal with.

They took over kenyon who made about 3000+ J24 masts so when i call them about a part that is ON the sight like the steaming light it really should NOT be a mystery about the status of the parts

After MUCH beging they found a part that they had MADE to replace the orginal part IN STOCK

Same thing with the levers on the boom for the reef lines WHY have parts and numbers on the sight that have been superseded by and upgrade KIT and then get all uppity about the confusion it causes

Ordered several parts over the years with satisfactory results. A few months ago, we tried to order a steaming light for an Isomat mast - E-mailed with the part number - didn't hear from and called, they said there is no such number. Faxed a picture of the part and number from the catalog, didn't hear from them. Called and left messages - never heard a thing. Definately a PITA!!

And the Canadians of course;)
Actually, I got in touch with the Consul Office in Boston who referred me to a very nice lady in the NYC office. She thinks that dotting every "i" and crossing every "t" led someone to be a bit unreasonable although neither of us fault them for it. She's quite optimistic that she can obtain the necessary permission for me to transport a couple pints of Canadian ocean water (that was ours a few days before) back to the U.S. and stop and leave U.S. dollars in some Canadian ports.

I hope to be going to the Bay of Fundy sometime this summer or early fall.

When our Kenyon mast got dropped and bent, we very reluctantly bought the replacement from them because we had no choice. They had the last Kenyon extrusion of that size on the planet.

Wouldn't surprise me at all that they went belly up considering their attitude and lack of customer service.

Rig Rite in Warwick RI had a fire several years ago and moved into a make shift location. I am 10 min down the road from them and tried to get parts and got nowhere, they wouldn't even let me go to thier shop to pick it up. I went elsewhere!

Would you mind going down and taking a look? As pointed out above, they are the last source on the planet for many replacement parts. There are things on my boat that would cost me 50 bucks if they broke with RigRite replacements available and thousands if I had to replace in total.

Fickle Bunch

They (Rig Rite) are a fickle bunch to deal with.

Needed a part for my roller furling a couple of years ago. Emailed....no answer.

Called them -- no answer. Called again...answering machine said send us a fax.

Sent a fax with the complete part number, price (it was outrageously expensive -- but couldn't find it any other place), credit card # and begging them to express mail it -- I'd pay the shipping cost.

Heard nothing. Called....nothing. Faxed again....heard nothing.

4 days later -- the part arrived on my doorstep.

Interesting way to treat customers. Have to believe their repeat business %age is very low.

I'm with Roger on this one, my budget isn't ready to replace my headsail furling system completely yet, and I may need a part. Rig-rite was the only source that I found when looking last fall.
Maybe Ron in Warwick knows (or will know if he stops by), but they struck me as being maybe a one man, secondary job kind of operation. I thought maybe the 'customer service' person was just an answering service who wrote the part numbers down on a paper and someone else picked it up and shipped it to me. Could be a 'disagreement' and the same people who answered the phone were also hosting the web site? Although - the web site is working fine for me right now.
