Forestay in jib furler broke up top. Arg. Generally, generally, is h260 forestay used without modification in jib furlers, usually? And no need to shorten the stay for furler? Can one slide stay thru, or must use bare cable then put on T-ball terminals?? Sorry for such basic questions, I am new to fixing rigging. Does top of jib furler usually not have any rotating part, the "foil" the sail wraps around just rotates around the stay wire , which is cool if it's that simple a system up top?? I know so little about jib furlers they just seem to magically work they are great. - D

No modification required for forestry but must cut the foil to size. To put the forstay through, I used fish tape then pulled a line throuh then attached the firstly and pulled through. My H25.5 was trainable, so I dropped the mast. Is it possible to drop the mast on H26 to drop the mast?

This SBO site is owned by former Hunter employees and they have the build list. They can make you a new forestay that is the correct length. Call the store and tell them what you need.

The forestay gets bent back and forth with jib sail pressure. Add on a furler sleeve and it tends to concentrate the bending force at the ends of the stay and if I see the pictures right, your wire break at the top is at where stays fray because of inadequate rigging toggle.
When you fix things, you should make sure to have good all axis toggles at both ends of the stay. The furler bottom likely already has a pretty good toggle but make sure you have a good toggle at the top. To see what the toggle is, google something like "sailboat rigging toggles"

the online hunter store has a h260 forestay for $170, I just can't tell if that will work inside a roller furler without changes needed? I think so, the furler spins around it, I think

Furlers come in different configurations. Some use the forestay like Harken. Some come with their own internal wire/rope like CDI.

You have a CDI FF2 furler which some has to be cut off from the top. Are you the original owner??

Determine the kind of furler you have. Then look for installation manual online. During this process you should learn the difference between various makes of furling units. The installation manual will cover any modifications needed to the forestay.
Jssailem ,The CDI furlers do not come with their own wire luff . Dave ,why would he need to cut his furler ?
