Everybody's favorite subject...)
Its time to change the hose! Orders form the Admiral..)
The aft cabin has a lingering odor that must be coming from the hoses. I have done the wet rag test.(
I am going to redo the system that is on the boat, I want to be able to empty the holding tank, without doing a pump out.. (3 miles out).
Right now it is set up ( I guess by Irwin) so that I can choose to use the tank or bon voyage, by switching two huge ball valves and opening the through hull valve.
the only I can figure to empty the holding tank is through the deck fitting.
I want a simple system that will not require much in the way of maintenance or expense.
What I have come up with, may work, may not. That's why I want to get your input and ideas.. (thanks)
I want to eliminate the massive brass fittings and ball valves.
I will run one hose from the head to the holding tank, another from the holding tank to the deck fitting to allow pump-outs, and a third hose from a T fitting in the pumpout hose, with a valve at the T, forward to the thru hull where I can dump it overboard.
I will use sch40 PVC tube and fittings will be used everywhere possible and adapted to 1 1/2" Trident green stripe 102 hose, where necessarily.
If I understand correctly the tank, being vented, will act as my vented loop.. I am assuming that is why it is mounted so high in the boat. best guess puts the bottom of the tank 4 to 6 inches above the waterline.
The valve at the T will allow me to keep the long line from the aft cabin to the thru hull valve just forward of the galley, from standing full of waste when not in use. This should keep odors down and help the hose last longer.
hoping to hear your thoughts, ideas and solutions.
Thanks
