Dear Fellow Irwin Sailors,

I’m launching my Irwin for the first time and wondered if there is anything I need to watch out for on this particular brand of boat. I’m not used to 7 thru-hulls below the waterline, so a bit nervous!

Best,
Mark

Only 7?

it only takes one to sink a boat if it isn’t installed and maintained correctly and always check the hoses and (double) hose clamps too. Routinely check and exercise them and your peace of mind will improve.

Stepping up is normal. Be on board when they lower her in the water. Leave her in the slings till you can confirm there is no water coming in that is not being handled by the bilge pump. If the stuffing box begins to leak tighten the nut a 1/8th to a 1/4 turn. Should resolve the dripping. Once assured all the opening are closed your ready to be set free.

If the water is a problem, they can just lift you back out of the water and put you on the hard till you resolve the issue.
