Does any body know the measurments of the iron beam in the bilge? How hard is it to replace? Is there another material I can use that won't rust and can take the pressure? Is there an old posting of one being replaced? Hopefully with pics.

I replaced mine with 1/4" SS. Reset it with West Marine apoxy. Its not as hard to do as you think. I took the mast down and pulled the pressure post out. The screws in the post showed signs of the post sagging a little. they were all pointed in a downward direction. when I seated the new I beam I made sure I could slip a piece of paper under the piece of wood that sets on top of the i beam and the fiberglass deck. you don't want mast pressure on your deck. be sure its all directed to the top of the i beam.

Has anyone ever thought about band clamping steel,iron or wood blocks to the iron "I" beam in the bilge instead of replacing it. Blocks with a sung fit would at least pospone the job and may last as long as the boat. Any ideas?
