For all those techies out there, I am looking for a music source for my boat. The music itself will come from my iPhone but the docking system is in question. It needs to be fairly small, sit on the sink cabinetry, gives good sound that can be heard from the cockpit, power source 12v have am/fm radio. Any recommendations? Sony makes some good ones but I can't find any that work on 12 volts.

for a little over a hundred bucks, you can get an automotive stereo that will receive your phones tunes completely wirelessly through blue tooth, and play it loud over any existing speakers. or if your existing stereo has an input jack, you can link your phone to it with an RCA type cable that only costs a few bucks. I have found it most convient to mount the phone in a few easy places with heavy velcro instead of a mechanical mount. The phone also acts as a chart plotter and hot spot for a laptop. This simple system, with a group 27 battery and a 15 watt solar panel provides tunes, internet, and frequent movies. In over a year, I have never plugged into a charger and never had a dead battery. Good luck to you.

Lance, I got one similar to yours, it's made by Dual Electronics. I was a little apprehensive to cut holes in the Fiberglas but it all turned out ok. Has a aux adapter that accommodates my iPhone but what is neat is that it also comes with USB port to keep my iPhone charged. The only unknown is if my battery and solar trickle charger will keep things running without having to take battery out for recharging. The receiver also has a direct line to battery that's on all the time to keep clock etc in memory. Time will tell if battery will hold up.
