I'm getting a iPad 2 for Christmas, looking for suggestions on the best GPS chartplotter app out there. (Great Lakes area)

What are the goals for the app you desire?
For a full plotter type experience iNavx is on my list. I've played with it on a friends iPad but not purchased myself.
There are cheaper alternatives depending on your goals. SC

I have to say, I had a real problem with Navionics for my Android. I bought East Coast US from them for $14 early last season. At some point, they bundled EUS and Great Lakes and sold them for $9. When they did that, they pulled EUS from the market. When I had to reinstall software on my phone, I could not reinstall the version I had bought.
I insisted they upgrade me to the current product seeing as how I had already paid more than that. They refused and eventually, after much vocal complaining, they emailed my the app but promised it would not get any updates.
I am still unsatisfied with their customer service.

I have the iNavx on my ipad. I used it a lot this past summer down below decks to keep an eye on things when I was off watch in my bunk on the way to Bermuda. It was able to get signal through a closed hatch. The charts are free from NOAA.
I take mine with iNavX everywhere I charter.
Just got back from the BVI's. Was in Annapolis in September and Mexico in March. Works well everywhere.
But no, it doesn't work well in bright sunlight. Like Prime Time I use it below as a backup at the Nav table. I doubt any Nav app or tablet will work well in bright sunlight. ...and they're not waterproof either. Although that isn't really a problem, just take it below when it starts to rain.
