I'm thinking of installing an inverter (3000w). The question is, are they hard wired into your 110v outlets with a cutout when shore power in hooked up or does everyone just plug into the inverter ? pro's and con's? Thanks Mike

Inverter Question

I installed an inverter (sized similar to the one you're considering) about 3 years ago. I permanently hard wired it into the AC distribution panel and have a selector switch to provide AC from either Shore Power or the Inverter BUT not both at the same time. Defender has the selector switch and the directions are pretty much straight forward. The inverter powers a microwave, blender, and other smaller type AC devices when I'm at anchor. It works really well if you don't abuse your power consumption..
