I like my microwave and coffee maker, but those run off the Honda if I'm not plugged in. You'd need a really big battery bank to support either one off an inverter.
Cheap and isolated from boat systems. We see many when out cruising running off the stern of the boat.

I have landlubbers arrive at the boat holding their phone wall chargers asking where they can plug in not even knowing that the cable unplugs with a USB fitting that plugs up to a 12vdc adaptor.

I had a Inverter/Charger and Gen installed when ordered my boat and 2 years later added 2 -195 watt solar,my wife
goes out on 3-4 week cruises 2 times a year and if not for the equipment we added Gen and AC she most likely be like other women want to go home after 1 or 2 weeks of cruising.
So I add anything to keep the Wife happy and the old saying Happy Wife Happy Life,my inverter and Gen were installed at the factory and everything has auto switching or push of a button and love it when wife says can I use Microwave and should I use the inverter or Gen,she cooks a lot at home and on my boat and our RV and I am a lucky guy and so I am always looking to improve our boating for her and makes my life so easy and she likes day sailing with friends.
Hard to believe but my wife is not really a water person but she likes when we are cruising with many other boats from our Club.
Everyone uses their boat differently and been there real simple but we are much older and we both enjoy life the best we can.

Nick: I am 79 yrs old and my 74 year old wife enjoys spending time on the boat as well. It depends on the lady and her background what they need. Fortunately, my wife just enjoys our Catalina 250 as I do. Realize that I am an old soldier/sailor and she is an old sailor/soldiers wife. We are tough, but still have fun with our friends and family. Chief

On both boats we owned, a 41' sailboat and a 38' power boat I installed a marine inverter/charger. The unit was powered from the main AC breaker. The output was wired to the breaker supplying the AC outlets on the boat. So if we had AC, either shore or genset, the transfer switch would pass it through to the outlets, if not, the inverter would come on and power the outlets. Even though we had a genset, this allowed us to make coffee and run the microwave in the mornings and TV and computers at night without running the genset. I also installed the matching battery monitor so I could keep up with amp hrs used and know when and for how long to run the genset to put the amp hrs back.
