Hello everyone,
My name is Chris. I am Engraver and a sailing boat enthousiast!
i'm a new member ...and with your approval, i'd like to throw a line out there ;)

Having been sailing most my time on friend's boats about quite enough time since i've achieved my sailing classes in Belgium in 2007,
then not having been able to import to U.S. my small boat i've enjoyed in Belgium (for many logistical reasons...)

I am currently looking for my "First" boat purchase here in California since i moved in for work 5 years ago!
Regularely Sailing and Working on my Friend's Beneteau(s) has ever been a pleasure but i want more and i want mine !
I want to get my own headaches and blasts with her ;)
...enjoying, sharing my attraction for sailing with my surrounding ;)

So i am actively looking for a FIRST 35s5 Stark/Barret 1990-1992 (or closed to) because i think she could fit my project. That being said, If any information regarding a possible "for sale" unit... Please, feel free to get in touch.
Also i wish i could come across other Beneteau First 35s5 owners who might have some time to spend, sharing about their "Ladies" and so helping me in my journey to find mine...
Because it will happen... no matter when !
It is just a matter of time and match ! ;)

While looking, i won't miss reading your posts, experiences and tips through your Threads and posts.

I'd just like, ...& by advance, to thank anybody who would take a part to this post,
wishing em all "Bon Vents" for their own sailing experience.

P.S.: My English is Only four years old (Previousely only French speaking) ;)

With Nautical respect & regards,

Chris.

Chris,

Welcome to the USA.
Your english is better than mine and I have been at it for 58 years.

You should watch the boats for sale link at the top of this page. You may find what you are looking for. You also can try "www.boattrader.com".

I think I would go to a dealer near where you are and let them know what you are looking for.

Good luck!

Chris

About this 1990 Beneteau First 35s5 Sloop

1990 Beneteau First 35s5
“CURRENT PRICE” IS A GUIDE. ALL OFFERS RESPECTFULLY CONSIDERED.
General Description
The Beneteau 35s5 is a unique sailing yacht. A "First Series" Beneteau designed by Jean Berret means she is fast (PHRF 114). An interior designed by Philippe Starck means she is stylish and comfortable. The First 35s5 races as well as she cruises; she is a must see for the sailor looking for a performance yacht without sacrificing cruising comfort.

If you are unfamilar with this very special Beneteau model then the Starck/Berret First 35s5 is a must see! If you have always wanted to own one of these very special First Series Beneteaus then this is the boat that you have been waiting for!
Actual Condition
It is reported that the storm surge pushed the boat onto shore. Damage includes the boat taking on some water, keel, rudder, bow & stern pulpit railings, prop, shaft, bimini top, roller furling and gouges and scrapes to the hull. Please inspect carefully for further damage.

Thank you very much ;)
I already figured out this sounds like the place to be for great exchanges.
I actually spotted 2 available boats and I am in touch with brokers. They aren't far apart but has very different settings and equipment.
might plan on a visit there soon...
will depend of coming communication.
Will keep you all posted.
One of those 35s5 has damaged wooden floor surfaces all the inside to by the companion way (cabin interior) due to regular racing use.
Does anyone ever had to re-do a whole floor inside a similar boat and if yes, what would be your first words to someone who might consider the option?
Are those woods you could sand and revarnish? Or just only thin vignier on plywood?
By advance thank you all for your time and thoughts on this ;)

Welcome!

Your question depends on what damaged means. I have sanded and refinished a cabin sole on a Beneteau. Like all other production boats the veneer is very thin. So if you have cosmetic or surface damage then it's a job easily done especially if its a panel you can remove and refinish at home. On the other hand if its delaminating or deep gouges you'll need to cut a new panel. You could try ward Richardson at Beneteau in Marion and see if they have a replacement panel otherwise you'll need to source and if you're fussy may have to replace adjacent panels.
