Good Choice

I also just bought a 79 Cat 30' as my first boat. So far so good, she is a great boat! I don't know much about sailing but my 30 seems to be pretty forgiving as I learn. I'll also be living aboard her this winter! Good Luck

Welcome to the Club!

Frank, like LaDonna, tell us more and like Kelly, good choice. Presume you are buying an older edition. What year, what condition, what kind of engine, have you already bought her, etc.? If she's not new and this is your first experience, does that mean you've never sailed on another boat before, so she will truly be your introduction to sailing and the life it embodies and are you the kind of guy who looks forward to maintaining and improving her? Are you single or young married or with family or retired? No matter what, welcome to the club! This network is a great place to connect with and ask for assistance. Keep us informed.

Get your Hands Dirty

My first monohull was a C-27. Stepping up from a 16 foot catamaran was a bit of a stretch. I remember feeling a little overwhelmed the first few times I took her out, but that nervousness soon turned to challenge and then pure delight. Just log lots of time behind the wheel, get comfortable with her. Learn her systems inside and out, and you will have a splendid relationship. By the way - great choice for a boat! Happy sailing - Rob
