I have to replace my internal halyards, and am not quite sure how to run them up the mast. The only way I can think of is to tape the ends to the ends of the old halyards, but what happens if the tape comes undone inside the mast? Run a second, small line up, too? Any suggestions are appreciated.

What works for me is to first tape the ends...

of the old and new to keep them from unraveling, then with a sewing needle and heavy nylon thread, butt end tie them together. Terry

Paper Clip

Unbend a sturdy paper clip and hook the ends over the ends of the old and new halyards. Secure the paper clips in place with strong tape and pull gently through. Works great. Credit goes to Steve Dion. Hope this helps. Gary Wyngarden S/V Wanderlust h37.5

I did what terry did

and it worked extremely well. replaced main and jib halyard in about half an hour start to finish. bought the new halyards from this site-they fit perfectly and are proving to be very durable. chris
