Have been searching for a replacement for one of the bow running lights, but have had little luck. Mine is almost shot from age and works 1/2 the time if I'm lucky. Any one? Thanks, Bill

Bill; Go to the West Marine store at the lake or downtown Charlotte and look at their catalogues. You should be able to find the one in their cataloge Crazy Dave Condon

Bow running lights

I got a new one from WM for about $10.00 bucks. Easy to replace and works great. Mine tends to wack the dock from time to time when the lake level is just right, and can't withstand the 2700 lbs of boat pushing it, so needs replacement sometimes. I am down on Wylie, at CYC. Come down and race with us sometime. Scott Davis wsdavis@fmtc.net

A clarification for some folks...

The bow lights on the H25 are set into the hull, below the rub rail- You change the bulbs from inside the anchor locker. On my H25, the originals are broken and inop- but the previous owner ran a wire up the bow pulpit and used a rail-mounted AquaSignal series 25 bi-color light (like the ones on the H23). Not the prettiest installation, but quite effective... I imagine the prior owner did this to avoid trying to find replacements for the original lights! I haven't been able to find them anywhere, either, so I'm going to stick with the AquaSignal light. --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio'

Lights

I think Defender or JSI have replacement units if they are the large tear drop ones. Had them on my Catalina 25 and you changed the bulbs from inside the anchor locker. THey were always a pain to keep operational. I would stick with the Aquasignal since they are more visible, reliable and since it only has one bulb draws less power. If you ever paint the boat just take out the old lights and patch.

Replacement

Hello Jon: I have an h27, with same light setup as you. I found my replacements at an auto parts store, fit perfect. Remember to put vaseline on the base of the bulb. Good luck red

Thanks, Red, but...

It isn't the bulb that's the problem, it's the fixture itself- The metal on the fixture's housing has corroded pretty badly, and the assembly will no longer hold itself together without a liberal application of Magic Silver Adhesive Binding Strips (Duct tape! ;). Ah, well, I s'pose that 23 years of exposure to salt water and some number of years of neglect by former owners has taken its toll on this particular piece of equipment. I think I'll be filling in the holes and painting on the next haul-out... The gel coat's pretty much done in, and there are a few obvious patches on the hull anyway. Anyone out there know a good hull painter in the Fl Keys? --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio'
