Just finished painting the topsides on my C-22 and thought I would share this with you. I followed the directions to the T on how to apply Brightside poly on the first coat. I was very unsatisfied with the results. Although I had used it before (and was pleased with the finished product), I had never applied a dark color as I have just done. Now, I know that dark colors show every little thing, but the brush marks and lack of leveling properties were simply unacceptable. After sanding the first coat down, my wife and I decided to experiment until we were satisfied. We tried different brushes, rollers, pads, ect. and came up with this:Interlux says no more than 10% of the brushing solvent per volume (3.2 oz. per quart max.) We used a little more, maybe 5 oz. We found a candy-striped roller cover for wall paints at Lowe's that was suitable for polyurathane. Tried it out and it worked better than the foam covers suggested by Interlux (fewer and smaller bubbles). I took one roller and loaded it up with paint. My wife took another roller with no paint and went behind me with NO PRESSURE on the roller. She simply rolled the surface as lightly as possible (just enough to make the roller turn) and smoothed out the lines and bubbles that I left behind. She rolled in the same direction that I painted but made sure to overlap where I had started a new coat. No kidding, it looks like it was sprayed on and I did almost everything to the contrary of what Interlux suggested (except for the prep work).Weather, in case you were wondering, partly cloudy, 82-85 degrees, light wind 5 mph, no humidity. Started painting around 10:00 this morning done by 1:00.
