What do you folks use to re-vitilize the interior wood? I have found lots of information in the archieves on the floor (sole) but I can't seem to find much on the interior wood ie, head door, galley etc... I do not want to refinish it, just give it a little life. I would love to hear what has and hasn't worked.

Thanks.

That Depends on the Original Finish .............

................. whether it be oil or varnish.

If oiled and neglected for years try rubbing with 3/0 steel wool and any good teak oil . Looks as good as new.

If varnished, pretty much strip it and re-varnish if the surface is rough. A real labour of love.

I washed down all the walls with a mixture of Krud Kutter KC32 and water 50/50. Then I let it dry. After that I waxed all the wood except the floor with Butchers Wax. The floor I washed and used teak oil. The wax is too slippery for the floor. My buddy sanded the floor lightly on his and used teak oil. It came out beautifull.

The Daly's Seafin is a great product if the old finish is worn. It is basically a oil finish that hardens (Tung Oil). It is not too bright (sort of a semi gloss, depending on how much you use. This was what Hunter used from the mid 80's and on until they started spraying the finishes.

If you are looking at cleaning it then you may need to look at some other products. We use lemon/citrus oil to keep the interior clean and fresh.

I just did my new bulkheads with Formbys Tung Oil varnish. Looks pretty good and super easy to apply and touch up. I don't have any long term experience yet to offer.
