2 Questions... I would like to redo the interior upholstery for my Cal 27. The cushions look ok on top, but they are clearly worn and torn underneath. Any ideas on who or where to go for that? 2nd Question...How do I find out if my Cal is a Model "2" or not. I have a Cal 27. But I don't know if it is a Cal 2-27, or what. Is there some way to identify it one way or the other? Thanks. Gary

upholstery and model

We reupholstered our ourselves with a home machine. Chose a nice fabric and in general used the old covers as guides and patterns. We decided to use velcro closure instead of zipper. We added 2" to the V berth mattresses which made them great to sleep on. If you do that, I suggest relatively firm foam on top of the existing foam. Reupholstering isn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. now both my wife and i do various projects for the boat. The original Cal 27 was a pop-top. It had 6'4" headroom with the top up. the second model was the t/2. It is almost as if they raised the pop-top to 6'1" and glassed it in to hold it up! moved the portlights also. the 2-27 was actually the third model. It has a more traditional raised coachroof. All three of those models shared the same hull. The 3-27 was an entirely different boat-different hull, different displacement, etc.

Thank you. I now know that I have a straight Cal 27. Cool. Thanks for the uphostery tips. I have a sewing machine. I'll give it a try. Gary
