I have a 22’ Oday which is my first sailboat and I have decided to make a project out of it. The boat is in great condition but I don’t like the wood on the interior. It is the original cheap wood. I was going to replace all the wood with nice marine plywood and add an alcohol stove next to the sink. I have a place in Chatham Ma but would like to spend the occasional night on my sailboat for fun and the occasional trip to Nantucket. So… that being said, has anyone redone a 22’ oday that might have some pictures to share with me? I’d like to change the floor from fiberglass to teak/ mahogany marine plywood and possibly change some stuff but I’d love to get some ideas. Any general info is appriciated. I am also looking for an alcohol stove, compass, GPS and various other stuff for it. If anyone has any lying around that they would like to sell or knows of someone, please feel free to contact me at Scarlton@heritagerealty.com Thanks, Steve

refit

steve, I've been redoing the interior of my 1973 oday 22 for some time now. I started in the bow area with some additional structural bulkheads and a 13 gallon water tank. I've almost got it done, but I cut my thumb off with my table saw. I should start working on it again by the middle of january. I've been thinking alot of redoing the cabin/galley area, but haven't made any changes yet. If you like I'm willing to keep you updated with my ideas and progress if you'll do the same.

Refit Idea

You might want to check EBay for the "goodies" that you seek. I recently bought an Origo 1500 stove there. (They seem to be a regular auction item.) I'm also upgrading an O'Day Two-Twenty-Two. ...am in the process of fabricating a counter top that will span the starboard bunk yet not close it off for sleeping. This will add much needed galley counter space. Here's a picture of the sailing instrumentation that slips into the companionway penboard slots (removable for stowage). There are bug screens and a set of penboards that fit the revised opening.
