Cal 28 Kent Island
My cal 28 has old texturized foam backed cloth covering many areas of the bulkheads. I plan to strip it off and replace it with Nautolex Capitano vinyl. What kind of adhesive would be recommended? Any other hints or comments would be appreciated

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I am not sure on which adhesive I would suggest. I know that 5200 is supposed to be a good choice for certain things. Other people on here probably know more about this.

I will suggest that if you plan to do the interior woodwork I would strip all the wood and then refinish it before you put the new cloth or vinyl in the boat.

I've done several refits and I've found that the best thing to use is a good upholstery glue.

I've had great luck with 3M, you can find it at any good auto supply house for around $15 per can.

Good Luck with the refit,
Bill

We are currently refiting our Cal 27 and using indoor outdoor carpet adhesive in quart cans. Got the stuff at Home Depot. We looked at the spray stuff but the set up time was instant and since we are doing this for the first time we didn't want instant contact. This stuff is like peanut butter and we spred it with our hands ( in gloves) and can still move the headliner stuff around if we miss the mark putting it in.
