Interior Layouts of Catalina 27

I have seen a lot of information on traditional and dinette interiors. But I saw a brochure on the Catalina site that appears to be a variation of the traditional interior that extends the starboard settee to make a double berth. When was this offered or was this always available on the traditional interior or was this a retrofit that can be installed?

My understanding is that it was a standard feature of the traditional interiors.

Thanks for your response. I have been looking at a lot of boat sites and from what I can tell, the slide out starboard Settee feature does not seem to be provided for until 83 or 84. I would like to see some good pictures of it without cushions in both the retracted and extended conditions. My observation is that the feature involved steps that can be moved to the port and that have a support for the extended settee and another support on the bulkhead at the forward end of the settee. I presume that the actual extension is located on top of the starboard settee when not extended and probably incorporates some additional supports. This looks like something that could be retrofitted without too much difficulty. If any of you more seasoned sailors could shed some light on this or possibly provide some pictures, I would be in your debt.

I don't think so (about the 83 84 years). Go to http://www.catalinayachts.com/users/?CFID=8528285&CFTOKEN=80363830

If the token add-ons don't work, just go to cy.com

You may have to register to read the Brochure Series Archived older brochures. I just looked at the C27 brochure which clearly shows the pull out, which I thought was pretty much a standard feature of the C27 traditional layout.

I could be wrong.

To find out even more, you should find the C27 International Association online and ask them, they'd know better than us guys here who may not all have or had C27s and who may not be aware of your question.

Good luck.

ours was a 82 and has a retrofit by PO with a block that sits on step to hold wisker pole and a mounted block off the compression post that the wisker pole inserts into, under the settee we pull out a thin sheet of 1/4" plywood and lay some foam sheet down and a back cushion it works ok,

I can send you photos just pm

My 1984 C27 has the expandable settee. I don't know if that was the first year for that feature or not.

You are correct--the settee has a slide out wood top. On the forward end it rests on a block mounted at the proper height. On the aft end it rests on a block mounted on the side of the companionway ladder. When pulled out, the back rest cushions fill in the extra bunk space. While it's not exactly luxiurious, it's pretty clever and does the job.

I agree that it could be retrofitted fairly easily.
